Supplies continue to be plentiful. BROCCOLI continues to be grown in many areas and also Canada. With most states promoting “Buy Local” interest for California broccoli will continue to be low.
Light supplies from North Carolina. Prices are lower. Quality is generally good.
Carrot market steady with good supplies. Growers are seeing better supplies of Jumbo and cello size in the fields which is a plus. Demand for snack carrots continues strong and advanced ordering is still the way to go.
Cauliflower demand is moderate. Wide range in quality & condition. Movement is impacted by a slight shortage 0f trucks. Market is slightly lower. Still deals on 9s and 16s.
Market slightly higher, good demand. Now that Salinas has started and Oxnard will continue to decline in volume. A bit of an upward stirrup has occurred. Expect markets to improve as growers curtail harvest to tighten up supplies and minimize their losses.
Market Steady. Onion volumes will continue to drop as Mexican acreage drops. Quality is typically fair this time of the year due to heat and insect pressure.
Demand for GREEN leaf is down and the market depressed. Limited acreage planted during the Summer months will keep available supplies down. There is little interest for leaf items for the next couple of months.
We are starting to see typical Summer time markets. Limiting plantings to combat with local supplies throughout the country, will raise our pricing scale. Consumers interest for fruit during the Summer will take away interest for Lettuce. We will always need lettuce.
Summer time means consumers are interested in fruit more than leaf items. Demand for RED leaf is down and the market is weak.
Unlike the other leaf items, There is continued interest for ROMAINE. Demand for Packaged salads and more Restaurants opening up serving Ceasar Salads will keep the supply train moving.
