Haricot Vert (French type) Central American imports out of Florida- Moderate supplies. Prices are slightly lower.  Quality and appearance variable, but is generally good.  Round Green type- Moderate supplies from North Carolina. Prices are generally unchanged.


Bell Peppers

Green bell prices are up this week. The Mexico season is done, California is harvesting but supplies are light. Red, yellow and orange bells are steady this week. Good supplies from Georgia expected to increase. Prices are lower. Quality is generally good.


Chiles

Movement expected to decrease seasonally. Trading is moderate. Prices are slightly higher. Quality is variable.


Corn

Moderate supplies from Georgia expected to decrease as some growers are finished for the season.  Prices are lower. Quality is generally good.


Cucumbers

Cucumber prices are have not changed much this week. Supplies are decent and so is quality. Product is crossing through Nogales and also from Baja. Good supplies from Georgia and North Carolina expected to increase. Prices on medium unchanged with fair quality, others lower.   Quality is generally good.


Eggplant

Light supplies from Florida. Prices much lower. Quality is generally good.  Steady supplies from Georgia as more shippers begin to harvest. Quality is generally good.


Onions

PNW Onions: Demand remains strong. Market has steadied. Consumer packs continue to be in high demand. Reds are tight & whites are even tighter. Overall quality and condition remain excellent on these storage onions. Mexico’s movement expected to decrease seasonally and trading is moderate.

White & some yellow potatoes are finished for the season. Reds are still available, along with Fingerlings and purple potatoes. Quality is good.

Demand and disappearance has increased in ID and CO, however in the PNW districts movement is lower this year compared to last. Idaho appears to have a surplus of potatoes this season which is reflected in the higher disappearance and lower prices this season. Large potatoes, however, are a bit tight in the potato state. Overall, the PNW crop may end up a bit short before new crop begins in July. Large size russets continue to be a hot item in WA/OR with heavier demand. NOTE: Price increases on Large tubers are expected over the months to come due in part to supply and quality concerns as well as food service sector opening up over the summer. Quality remains outstanding.

Moderate supplies from North Carolina, Louisiana and Mississippi reamain about the same. Prices are generally unchanged. Quality is good overall.


Soft Squash

Zucchini – Zucchini prices are up this week. Nogales crossings are finished. Product is crossing from Baja and California has also started harvesting. Supplies are improving and quality is nice. Good supplies from Georgia expected to increase. Prices on Zucchini are lower.  Quality is generally good.

Yellow Squash – Yellow squash is up this week. Same as zucchini, Nogales crossings have finished. Product is crossing from Baja and California is also harvesting. Moderate supplies from Georgia. Prices on Yellow Straight neck higher, others lower. Quality is generally good.

The East: Due to transition, volume will be light until regional deals start up at the end of June through beginning of July.

The West: Mexico has wrapped up its season and Baja has started in a very light way and the expectation is we are at least 3 more weeks away until good volumes occur.

The East:  The transition between growing regions is occurring and will remain as such through June. Supply will be light during this time and quality is becoming variable.

The West: Transition is occurring between West Mexico and Baja. Most growers in Baja should be all online by the end of June. Supply will remain light. California will add to the mix by the 3rd or 4th week of this month.

The East: Rounds supply is light and will remain for the next 2 weeks; we are awaiting the next areas come online beginning and through July.

The West: West Mexico’s season is coming to an end. Transition is occurring to Baja/East Mexico and supply should build in the next 14 to 21 days. California has begun in a light way and will continue to build inventories for the next 3 weeks. Supply will be light during this time.
