Haricot Vert (French type) Central American imports out of Florida- Moderate supplies. Prices are higher.  Quality is variable, but generally good.  Round Green type- Light supplies from North Carolina expected to continue decreasing as most shippers are  finished for the season.

Green bell prices are down this week. California is harvesting, supplies are good, product is shipping from Bakersfield and Coachella. Red, yellow and orange bells are steady this week. Moderate supplies from North Carolina.  Prices are slightly lower. Quality is good overall. Light supplies from Georgia as most shippers are finished for the season.


Chiles

Movement expected about the same. Trading on Habanero fairly active at lower prices, others fairly active. Prices on Habanero lower, Serrano higher, Poblano generally unchanged, others slightly higher. Quality is variable.

Moderate supplies from Georgia expected to decrease seasonally as most shippers are finished for the season. Prices are slightly higher. Quality is generally good.


Cucumbers

Cucumber prices are steady this week. Supplies have been steady quality has been nice. Product is crossing through Baja. Moderate supplies from Georgia expected to decrease as most shippers are finished for the season. Prices are lower. Quality is generally good.


Eggplant

Light supplies from Georgia expected to decrease seasonally as some shippers are finished for the season. Prices are higher. Quality is generally good.


Onions

PNW Onions: Demand remains strong. Market has steadied. Consumer packs continue to be in high demand. Reds are tight & whites are even tighter. Overall quality and condition remain excellent on these storage onions. Mexico: The movement is expected to decrease seasonally; trading is moderate. Supplies in too few hands to establish a market.

Colored potatoes are about a week or 2 from getting started in eastern WA. Pricing will be strong to start. Western WA to begin in September.

NW russets continue to have strong FOBs on the larger sizes, with most shippers packing the smaller sizes & not much volume on the larger sizes. New crop WA russets are set to start the last week of July into the 1st week of August.

We can expect moderate supplies from North Carolina, Louisiana and Mississippi. Prices are generally unchanged. Quality is generally good.


Soft Squash

Zucchini – Zucchini prices are up this week, supplies are a little lighter, quality is good. Product is available in California. Moderate supplies from Georgia and North Carolina expected to decrease as most shippers are finished for the season. Moderate supplies from Virginia.  Prices on Zucchini lower.  Quality is generally good.

Yellow Squash – Yellow squash prices are also up this week. Same as zucchini, product is available in California, quality has been good. Moderate supplies from Georgia and North Carolina expected to decrease seasonally as most shippers are finished for the season. Moderate supplies from Virginia. Prices Yellow Straight neck generally unchanged. Quality good overall.

The East: Volume is steady as more areas come online; there are weather related issues yet they are being graded out by the growers.

The West: Baja is still very light on their supply while demand is still high.

The East: The transition is still occurring causing light supplies; however a few growers are starting to come online in hopes to alleviate the supply shortages.

The West: West Mexico and Baja’s 1st picks are both almost done while Eastern Mexico is still slow in building inventories. Almost all of California’s growers have come online and some are in 2nd plantings. In the next few weeks we should see better supply barring any weather and labor issues.

The East: Rounds many growing regions are winding down and others are starting to scratch. Volume is enough for demand, we should see an increase in the next week or so.

The West: Baja 1st picks is slowing effecting Mexico’s volume. West Mexico is winding down and East Mexico is steady yet with light volume. California’s volume is moderate with varying quality due to the recent heat.
