Green bell prices are down this week. Supplies have improved. They are crossing through Nogales quality has been good. Red, Yellow, and Orange supplies have also improved and prices are down. PNW Onions: Demand continues to be light on a weak jumbo yellow market. Jumbo prices are down again this week while medium yellow, red jumbo, and mediums onions are enjoying higher demand with an increase in prices. This is presumably the result of the USDA box program; which will be adding demand to the market for the next few weeks. Now is a good time to push Jumbo onions for your bulk displays. White and Yellow sweets are available as well. Market and supplies steady. Mexico – Movement is expected to increase as more shippers come online. Trading is moderate.
Mt Vernon: Good availability on all colors this season. A good supply of Fingerlings. Whites are nearly finished for the season. There are some Whites available in California. Mt Vernon district will have Yellow and Reds well into spring. Organics are available.
PNW potatoes: Prices are steady on a good supply of large spuds in WA/OR. Idaho struggles with size this season but has great supplies on the small end. Prices are weaker in the 90’s and smaller sizes. USDA Food Box packages have been awarded- mainly in Idaho – and did not bolster the market as was expected. Quality remains outstanding. Organic Russets are available.
Moderate supplies from North Carolina. We can expect good supplies from Mississippi and Louisiana. Prices unchanged. Quality good overall.
Zucchini – Zucchini supplies have improved and prices are down this week. The quality of the product is good. Moderate supplies from Florida expected to remain about the same. Prices generally unchanged. Quality is generally good.
Yellow Squash – Yellow squash is also down this week, there are good supplies available. Product is crossing through Nogales. Good supplies from Florida expected to remain about the same. Prices expected to remain unchanged. Quality is good overall.
The East: Florida supplies are rebounding due to better weather. Normal volumes are within reach; quality is still good.
The West: Supply levels are improving fast with organics in a flush.
The East: Florida is seeing better supply and quality is good.
The West: Mexico is currently the largest producing region on romas with great volume and the expectation is this should continue for this month.
The East: Volume is increasing; expect steady supply for the next few weeks and great quality.
The West: As the East; volumes are increasing and should build for weeks to come.
