Onions

NW Onions Demand is good on all colors. Medium Yellows in particular are gaining strength as demand pushes supply. Export continues with strong FOB’s as well. White onion demand has ebbed and flowed this season. Mexico’s export demand pushed prices up until they were no longer attractive; prices dropped. Of course, Mexico exports once again took advantage of lower pricing; prices are now rising. Interesting. Onion harvest is complete in the NW, everything is undercover. Markets appear to be stable with underlying firmness in the air. All colors of Organic Onions are available albeit at higher pricing this season.

Russet Potatoes

Large Russet cartons continue to be moved at discounted prices across the nation as another round of COVID threatens to slow restaurant trade once again this fall. WA & OR tend to have normal crop yield this season peaking on larger size spuds. Thusly, small count cartons & consumer packs prices are firming as demand meets supply. However, Idaho, with an evident smaller size profile this season, continues to discount all carton sizes, showing growing strength on consumer packs. Harvest is complete for the most part with a strangler here and there. Perfect timing as typical freezing temps hit the PNW. – Quality is outstanding. Organic Russets are available.
