Green bell prices are up this week. Supplies have tightened. Peppers are crossing through Nogales quality has been good. Red and Orange supplies are steady. There are fewer yellow peppers available. Steady supplies from Florida expected to slightly increase. Supplies on Red are heavy. Trading Yellow and Orange active, Green fairly active. Prices Green higher, Yellow and Orange slightly higher, Red generally unchanged. Quality is variable.


Chiles

Movement expected about the same. Trading is moderate. Prices on Serrano slightly higher, Habanero lower, others slightly lower. Quality is variable.

Steady supplies from Florida. Prices are unchanged. Quality is good.

Cucumber prices are down a little this week. Supplies have improved. Quality has been nice. Product is crossing through Nogales. Moderate supplies out of Florida from Central America expected to remain about the same.  Prices are much lower. Quality and condition variable, but generally good.

Good supplies from Florida.  Prices are generally unchanged. Quality is generally good.


Onions

PNW Onions: Demand has increased on Medium supplies of Yellow and reds. Size profiles are trending towards Jumbo and colossal and are lending to make mediums tight as well. FOBs are on the rise. Look for the Jumbo prices to be drawn up as well over the next couple of weeks. Red onions are firming as well. Price increases are typical of this time of year as supplies shrink in the PNW storage supply. Mexico is crossing onions at higher FOBs with Texas chiming in this month. California will begin harvest of conventional as well as Organic onions by mid to late April. PNW Yellow sweets are available as well as red and yellow Organic onions. The overall quality and condition remain excellent on these storage onions.

Mt Vernon: Good availability on all colors this season. However the Whites supplies are in few hands- basically finished for the season. Mt Vernon district will have Yellow and Reds well into spring. Along with Fingerlings and purple potatoes. Organics are available. Eastern WA continues with a small supply of Red & Yellow potatoes to go perfectly with your russet and onions orders. Quality is good. ORGANIC-colored spuds are available as well.

PNW potatoes: Good supplies of large spuds in WA/OR districts. Relatively speaking, prices have been strong on those sizes, while Idaho struggles to hold prices up on the big end. Chains are pulling bulk display potatoes that look nice from up north. Idaho continues to struggle with size this season thus has great supplies on the small end. This is where the bulk of the USDA food box program has been awarded. Prices are weaker in 90’s and smaller sizes in Idaho. Quality remains outstanding. Organic Russets are available.

Good supplies from Florida. Prices on No grade marks jumbo lower, others are generally unchanged. Quality is generally good.

Zucchini – Zucchini prices are up this week. Supplies have tightened. Quality has been decent.  Moderate supplies from Florida expected to increase.  Prices are much higher. Quality is generally good.

Yellow Squash – Yellow squash prices are steady this week. Quality has been fair. Product is crossing through Nogales. Moderate supplies from Florida expected to slightly increase.  Prices are much higher. Quality is generally good.

The East: Florida supplies are rebounding due to better weather and yields are increasing rapidly. Quality is good.

The West: Supply levels are increasing and supply is sufficient for current demand.

The East: Florida is seeing better supply and quality is good.

The West: Mexico is currently the largest producing region on romas with great volume and the expectation is this should continue for this month and into next.

The East: Volume for the rest of the month is expected to be the same or possibly higher, sizing maybe a mix of smaller and larger sizes.

The West: Western Mexico is building volumes and should have strong steady numbers through the rest of the month and into next. VR’s are on the larger size. Overall all quality is good.
