Green bell prices are down this week supplies have improved. California should start in a few weeks. Red, yellow, and orange bells are steady this week. We can expect good supplies from Florida.  Prices are slightly lower.  Quality is generally good.

Movement expected about the same. Trading is active. Prices on Anaheim higher, Habanero slightly higher, Poblano is generally unchanged, others much higher. Quality is variable.

Cucumbers

Cucumber prices are higher this week. Fewer supplies are available. Product is crossing through Nogales and also from Baja. Moderate supplies from Florida expected to increase. Prices are higher. Quality is generally good.


Eggplant

Moderate supplies from Florida. Prices on Medium lower, Fair on quality generally unchanged. Medium is wrapped. Quality is generally good.


Onions

PNW Onions: Demand remains strong. The market has steadied. TX has a short crop this season and will be done in the next several weeks. Consumer packs continue to be in high demand. The California Brawley district will begin harvest of conventional as well as Organic onions by late April. There have been some cool weather that slowed it down a bit. PNW Yellow sweets are available as well as red and yellow Organic onions. The overall quality and condition remain excellent on these storage onions.  Mexico: Movement is expected to decrease seasonally. Trading is Moderate. Prices on Yellow Medium, Whites higher, Yellow Marked Sweet lower, others unchanged.

Mt Vernon: Good availability on all colors this season. White potatoes are finished for the season. Yellow demand has increased but prices remain fairly steady. Yellow and Reds will be available into late April, along with Fingerlings and purple potatoes. Organics are available.

Demand is rising especially from the foodservice sector. As one might expect that has caused larger sizes have become a bit tight in most growing areas. Prices overall are steady. Overall, the PNW crop may end up a bit short before the new crop begins in July. Quality is starting to be what you’d expect toward the end of the crop. Pressure bruising is starting to become more prevalent especially in Idaho. Organic Russets are available.

Moderate supplies from North Carolina, Louisiana, and Mississippi.  Prices are generally unchanged. Quality is generally good.

Zucchini – Zucchini prices are down, supplies have improved. Production has transitioned to a new growing area. Supplies are good and quality is good. We can expect good supplies from Florida.  Prices on Zucchini are much lower.  Quality is generally good.

Yellow Squash – Yellow squash supplies have improved and prices are down this week. Product is crossing through Nogales. We can expect good supplies from Florida  Prices on Yellow straight neck generally unchanged.  Quality is generally good.

The East: Volume is now steady with good quality no changes in the foreseeable future.

The West: Mexico supply has evened out with new fields online and the quality is good.

The East: Production out of Florida is steady and will continue for the next few weeks barring any weather disturbances.

The West: Mexico’s volume has remained steady and should remain as such.
